Sara Bernstein is a printmaker, textile artist and photographer living in Providence, Rhode Island. She is an Exhibiting Artist Member of the Providence Art Club. Her work includes collagraph prints and weavings.
“In thinking about my journey as an artist, printmaking, drawing, and photography have become an integral part of my life. Over the years, I have experimented with all printmaking techniques. I fell in love with using color, texture, and collage to create a single collagraph print. Always fascinated by weaving, I have been learning how to use different kinds of looms to create small tapestries. I decided to try using my old weavings as the foundation for a relief print (collagraph) that captures the tactile nature of weavings and simulates the warp and weft of a tapestry.
Inspired by traditional weaving patterns from unique cultures and communities, I would like my prints to convey a sense of mystery, beauty and movement. I think of weaving and printmaking as infinite, exciting mediums with endless possibilities. Motivated by the world around me, I hope that my prints create timeless landscapes that resonate with and reach out to the viewer in a personal way.”
